I really try to stay neutral on all things controversial on my blog. I do have a obligation to be “professional”. But I also have a need to do what I feel is right for those who are treated unfairly. Those of us in North Carolina had a big and controversial day yesterday. So for matters of “professionalism” I will just say that I am offering FREE photo sessions and a complimentary JPEG for any families in a domestic partnership. I dont care if you are a man or a woman or both or neither. As long as you consider yourself and the photo session participants a family living under one roof, please stop by for a few photos. I encourage you to express yourself in any way to desire.

Sessions will take place on June 6th between 10:00 and 3:00 at Duke Gardens. I am sorry I dont have greater flexibility on time but the kiddos are out of school for summer vacation. Sessions will be 15 minutes and you must send me an email to schedule a time. Just click “email jo” at the top of the page, just below the blog header. If you are under 18, you will need parental permission.

Batter Up!!

My client took her kids to tee-ball for picture day. You know…sit, smile, click. Well something went wrong. Not sure what, I wasn’t there but the photographer was grumpy and aggravated with one of the kids and Mom, and dismissed them from having a photo taken. I was appalled. I know these guys. They are awesome…fantastic individuals, fantastic brothers, a fantastic family. How could they be dismissed? I know they are fun, they are a bundle of energy and they are hilarious. I was so sad for their Mom. I told them to meet me after a session and I would take a few tee ball pics for them. Look at these boys…can you even IMAGINE being frustrated with kids who laugh and smile like this? They leave me laughing for days after I see them. Shame on you Tee-Ball photographer, whoever you are.

Just look at these infectious smiles. Ohh, I could kiss their little faces!!!

Family Time-Birthday Time!

A photo session is a great birthday gift. This photo session was set for Sunday AM at 9:00 on a cloudy morning. I think the birthday boy wanted to sleep in but he was a good sport and had a lot of fun. And what better day is there to capture some family time than on your birthday?

I am in love with this photo. Pure love, and happiness. And the boy’s hugs and expression is just completely unifying. Love it!

I also love these photos…I like the natural family photos that show people engaging with each other. That is where the happiest and most natural looks happen.

And if you prefer the more formal or posed look, I still try my best to keep those relaxed…

The new biz name came to me late last night while I was working on these cow photos. I also had my nose in photoshop for the better part of two days. Bear with me and laugh.

After my people sessions, I saw the cows across from Yates Mill, which belong to the NCSU Vet School, were lined up by the side of the road just begging for a few minutes of MoJo time. How could I resist? I popped out my favorite fun lens (fish eye) and snapped away. I was so close to these guys I could smell their breath–which is not as bad as I thought it would be.

And a before and after. It was a pretty grey day…no clouds or color in the sky.

My First Love…

I spent the weekend at Yates Mill Pond in Raleigh taking photos last weekend. It was my first favorite location. It’s perfect at any time of the year. It always seems to be different and I always find some little critters. I was thrilled to be there this weekend with some lovely families.

This lovely lady kepy reminding me of a mini Uma Thurman. Both are beautiful!

It’s Senior Time!

I met such a nice young lady for her senior portrait session. She is going to study to be a physical therapist. I am so excited because by the time she graduates, I will need one from carrying around heavy camera gear. We split her session among two locations and she was such a happy model. I am so lucky to work with some really great people!

And even though it was a senior portrait session, this one is by far my favorite photo…

Don’t Forget Mom!

I have yet to meet a Mom who received a photo session for Mother’s Day who was not thrilled with the gift. So plan a date for your wife, for you and your kids, your family, or why not your Mom and have a few photos snapped. It will be fun!

Grab the one you love, treat yourself, or you and your best friend, you and your Mom, anyone you love and get in the photos! Sessions aren’t just for kids. We just spent the morning exploring the city. It was a fun time! Don’t be shy.

I LOVE urban sessions. I’ll take texture and color over flowers anyday. Ooops, did I say that?
